I'M HIRED!!!

I'M HIRRRREEDDDDDDDDDD!!! I HAVE A JOB! WHO HAS A JOB? THIS GIRL. WHO IS MAKING BANK? THIS GIRL. HIREDHIREDHIREDHIREDHIREDHIRED!!! AWWWWWW YEAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.

I'm hired.

Hey there folks, guess what? I have a job.

You heard it here first. Amanda is employed and LOVING IT.

And it is only Tuesday! I gave myself two weeks to find a job and it only took two days. From the time that I walked into the daycare to the time that they told me I was hired, it was less than 24 hours! I'm definitely God's favorite. My gramma says that I'm runner-up because "she's first" but she might just be in denial. Maybe not, but possibly. Probably. ehhhhhhh... debatable.

One thing I absolutely MUST thank my Gramma for is the fact that she literally knows everyone on the planet. By the time I showed up at her house on Friday, she had already talked to everyone she could possibly think of in the area and had five or six places lined up that I could go and ask about a job at. It was wonderful! It's all about who you talk to, really. It just so happens that one of the places she had heard of was a daycare around the corner and when I heard that, I was like "ch-yeah!!!".

Everything just worked out perfectly. She called the lady in her ward whose daughter had worked there before and her daughter just happened to be home right then doing her laundry (because she doesn't live there), so she called the daycare and asked if they were hiring and they were so we put our shoes on right then and there, booked it over around the corner and walked right in. I asked if they were hiring (I was really proud of myself because I have real problems with that kind of stuff...) and they said yes, handed me an application and then told me they wanted me to come in the next day to do a trial hour so they could see how I was with the kids.

The next day?! It was all going so smoothly.

When I went in this morning, it was probably the funnest (mostest fun? More funner?) hour I have had in a long time. Those kids are adorable!! At first none of them really talked to me and we were just watching Spy Kids. But one by one, the kids sitting around me started tapping me on the shoulder. "What's your name?" they would try to whisper. "Amanda, what's yours?" I would respond and before I knew it, they were all vying for my attention. It's a good thing I'm good with names because within 20 minutes I knew all of them.

Then we went outside and I swear, it was all I could do ever be free of a small hand holding on to some part of me. Both of my hands were always occupied and my attention was drawn in every direction as child after child yelled "Amanda, watch this!" "Amanda, look what I can do!" "Amanda, let's find the bacon!" (what?) "Amanda!" "Amanda!" "Amanda!". There was a point where all of them were screaming Amanda all together from all over the playground and I couldn't figure out who was saying what!

The only time I was without any leeches was when I was running away from the flock of "dragons". Now, I've never encountered an angry mob situation before, but this is probably as close as I'm ever gonna get. I look back as I run around the playground and there are more than a dozen children all running after me, screaming and laughing. And if I ever called time-out because I needed to help someone who had fallen or who was sad, they all crowded around me and wouldn't play unless I was playing.

Let's be honest: I love kids. I love working with them and being around them, so why not do what I love and make money at the same time?! It's perfect. I worked at a daycare of sorts back home for two summers so I even already know what to do and how it all works.

And they liked me back, which is what is most important. I start work tomorrow (TOMORROW. so soon.) and I will work every day except weekends for the rest of the summer. It's going to be long, but so worth it. I'm really excited, in case you can't tell :D
