Let's start withhhhh... Sunday. Sunday was the last time that BYU 51st ward met together. It was honestly rather sad and depressing, but it was really good at the same time. I'm really going to miss those people! I've never felt so included and so welcomed into a ward before. I'm so glad I got to know them. That night, we had our last ward prayer and afterwards, we lit off lanterns like in Tangled. Yeah, we are THAT legit. It was really magical actually. Just seeing the lanterns all being lit and floating away and standing there singing the song with a bunch of people you love? Yeah. It doesn't get better than that.
BUT SOFT. What light through yonder window breaks? It is the end, and the Ingrid Michaelson concert is the sun. The only thing I had to look forward to through the mayhem was the fact that Thursday night, after I was done with work and after I was done with all my tests, my roommates and I were going to an Ingrid Michaelson concert and we were going to party hard. Well, as hard as 6 Mormon girls can, which, let's be honest, is pretty hard. AND we were (mostly) drug free while doing it! I'll explain that later...
My finals went really well though and I'm super happy about them. I got a 99% on my Book of Mormon, 96% on Sociology, and 89% on Biology, landing me A's in all of those classes in the end. My other two classes had papers as their finals, so I don't really know what my grades are yet, but I think I'm going to be alright. Hopefully I'll be able to pull out A's in all of my classes when this is all over. That would make my entire life.
On Tuesday, I started packing all of my stuff. The only problem with that situation was that our apartment is so small, there really isn't a place to shove stuff in the corner. There aren't any corners. Every inch of space was being used in some way or another. So all my stuff ended up in the hallway... Which is super skinny in the first place... Let's just say we had an object lesson about the straight and narrow path for a couple days after that!
Wednesday I had my last final, then I started REALLY packing. I still had to work, but I had loads of time to do absolutely nothing but shove all my crap (seriously!? Why do I have so much stuff...) into box after box. My room was a disaster. I couldn't move anywhere or get to anything. It probably wasn't the best way to go about things, but I didn't have any other options. In this picture? That is literally the whole room. Maybe there is extra space that you can't see in the picture or.. no. That's it. Mateja walks in and is like "I'll pack my stuff later..." and walks back out hahaha
Somehow I managed to fit it all into two boxes though, and the rest of it I stuffed into storage drawers that I had brought and was using in the kitchen. My grandparents were really proud of me when they saw how little stuff I had. Greg didn't believe me, but I can pack just as good as the professionals. If I drop out of college, I know what I'm doing! Just kidding Mom, don't worry...
That night: INGRID MICHAELSON!!!! I was super stoked for this, you don't understand. Next to Sara Bareilles, Ingrid Michaelson is my favorite artist. I love her music. So you can imagine what surreal it felt to be in the same space as her. But holy children of Israel was it hot in there.. I've never seen so many people crammed so close together in such a small space. The place also had two floors and you were only allowed up top if you were older than 21 because they served alcohol and people were doing drugs... I'm pretty sure I got high just from breathing the air around me. And then people started smoking to try to cover up the smell of weed. Yeah, it was so pleasant. By the end of the three hours that we were in that room (standing as well, yippee), the majority of us wanted to puke. But we stuck it out like dedicated fans and loved every minute of the concert! She was phenomenal live, it was amazing. I think we all had girl crushes on her by the end, let's be honest. If I was as talented as her, I would be... awesome. That was a weak ending but I wasn't really sure where I was going with that sentence... hahaha
The next day, we all went back to our apartment to hardcore clean and check out and leave 55 Horne forever. IT WAS SO SAD. But you know what, I'll never forget what an amazing year this has been, the amazing people I've met and the fantastic memories I've made.
Now, on to job hunting and living with my grandparents for 4 months. Bring it on! :D
